What best practices do you utilize for list hygiene?

Below are some best practices we follow to keep email list healthy: 

 

  • Before uploading the email list to ESP tool, we run them through email pinging tools like “TheChecker”, “zerobounce”, “neverbounce”, etc. and only clean emails are considered for the email blast 

 

  • Regarding hard bounces, through an automated script we just add users to master suppression list to ensure the email domains and IP addresses are kept healthy 

 

  • For soft bounces, we try to check the delivery status using an alternate ESP after 3 tries from a particular email service and depending on the soft bounce reason. If it still fails, then we add user to master suppression. 

 

  • Regarding unsubscribes, we have a dedicated set of resources who monitor all email responses and unsubscribes on a real-time basis. All unsubscribes are added to our master suppression and are removed from all mailing lists.
